About Me
It is not uncommon in the field of psychology for a therapist to be a blank slate to their clients. It's meant to be a one sided relationship- the therapist is there for the client not the other way around. I have been educated and trained to believe this is the most effective way to practice- almost all of the time. The field of psychology is changing and evolving so there's a window of opportunity here for me to tell my clients how I came to be the therapist that I am today. I'd like to share a little bit of that story here so that perhaps if you're looking for a therapist, you might connect with me and if you're an existing client, you may put together a few more pieces of the larger picture.
I graduated with a Master of Arts in Contemplative Psychology from Naropa University in 2013 and a Bachelors of Arts in Comparative Religions from the University of Virginia in 2007. I was fortunate to study Buddhism and Tibetan culture at Tibet University in 2006. So it was a natural extension of my undergraduate education to enroll in the graduate program which embodies the teachings of the same wisdom lineage founded by Chogyam Trunpa Rinpoche. I combined my desire to live mindfully with my career in order to provide a unique perspective on mental and behavioral health to my clients. I am an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and LAC (Licensed Addictions Counselor).
